Kate McLeod is this year's recipient of the Marcy Lawless Service Award!


Melody Charles been accepted to write for an forthcoming feminist blog run by Katie Stone called "Little Miss Matriarch." Stone formerly worked for the Denver Post, writing opinion pieces about issues such as birth control access in Colorado and feminist blogs like Feministing.com.


WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES FACULTY NEWS


Lara Foley, associate professor of sociology, is the new chair of the Faculty of Sociology

Peggy Hill, associate professor of biological science, has written the book Vibrational Communication in Animals, which will be published by Harvard University Press in May 2008.

Russell Christopher, associate professor of law, and Kathryn Christopher, member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, co-authored an article about
the intersection of the laws of statutory rape and rape by fraud 
("Adult Impersonation:  Rape by Fraud as a Defense to Statutory Rape") published in Northwestern University Law Review in 2007.  They also co-taught the class "Sex Crimes" during the Fall of 2007.

Holly Kruse, assistant professor of communication,  presented research on home media technologies and gender at the Association of Internet Researchers conference in Vancouver in October 2007.  She published an article about online markets in the internet studies journal First Monday in late 2007.
