With a surprisingly successful year behind us, we at the University of Tulsa Bisexual Lesbian Gay & Transgender Alliance plan to do even more this time around to ensure a fun, productive, and active year. In recognition of our generosity at last year’s Do Ask, Do Tell fundraising event in allowing OSU SODA our allotment of the money raised, this year the planners of this successful event are organizing another party for the month of October, whose proceeds will benefit our very own TU group. We hope to make Coming-Out Week, also in
October, a more active project this time, and we shall be planning the events for these few days in our weekly meetings. A film festival is in the works, possibly for this week and possibly as a regular activity. Perhaps the most successful event of last season was our Spring Gayla, also known as our annual Gay Prom. We weren’t sure it was going to happen, even up to the last minute, but with a turnout larger than expected and a night to remember atop the luxurious Doubletree at Warren Place, we are sure to draw an even larger crowd this year. We shall work out the details of the Prom in our
meetings as well. The last event of the year was the Diversity Day Parade last June. Several members of the group from TU as well as friends and supporters marched, and we all had a blast. Again, we hope to march even more of us next June in the interest of promoting equal rights for all humans, regardless of sexual orientation. We encourage all who are interested in the cause of human equality to attend our meetings and help us plan these and other activities that help promote it. And thank you current members for a successful year!
