"Surge... with
Service."
Who
We Are
The Knights of Columbus,
the world's largest organization of Catholic men and their families,
has been called "the strong right arm of the Church," and
has been cited by popes, presidents and other world leaders for
support of the Church, for programs of evangelization and Catholic
education, for civic involvement and aid to those in need. "Protecting
Families for Generations" is a motto that captures the Knights'
adherence to the legacy of its founder, Father Michael J. McGivney,
and fidelity to his vision. Our council at the University of Tulsa
was founded in 1995 and was granted the number 11633.
What
We Do
The
Knights of Columbus was originally founded in 1882 as a fraternal
organization that provided financial assistance to care for the
family of its deceased members. Since then, the organization
has expanded into community service and charitable donations.
The
University of Tulsa council of the Knights of Columbus is an
integral part of the Newman Center. Each year, the council
sponsors both the Newman Center's Spring Dance and end of the
year after-party. Throughout the year, the council also organizes
service projects such as praying the rosary for the unborn
outside abortion clinics and assisting at the St. Francis
Xavier/Our Lady of Guadeloupe Medical Clinic.

Meeting
Times
Our
council meets after the Newman Center's 8:00pm mass. Meetings
are held twice every month (schedule allowing). Meetings
are announced during mass and members are notified through
email. If you would like to attend one of our meetings, please
contact Jim Fox, to find out the next meeting date.
Who
Can Join?
Any
male Catholic 18 or older can join the Knights of Columbus.
Council 11633, is designated as a college council. Therefore,
we limit our membership to those who are enroled at any
college in the Tulsa area. There are also other college councils
for universities throughout Oklahoma. If you would like to
join the Knights of Columbus through council 11633, or through
another council, please contact Jim Fox.
Want
to Join?
We
would love to have you join us at one of our meetings. Because
of the hectic school lives of our members, we are unable to set
meeting dates very far in advance, but we usually have meetings
twice each month after Mass. If you would like to come to one
of our meetings or get more information about our council, contact
Grand Knight Jim Fox. If you would like more about the
Knights of Columbus organization, visit the official
Knights of Columbus website.
