"The real bond of Lamdba Chi Alpha which every brother should feel throughout his life, is that he pledged to certain IDEALS, and that he has the strength and brotherly sympathy of a large body of men all over the world in back of him, to aid him in his struggle to live according to those ideals. The distinction between the man he meets every day and his fraternity brothers is not one of clique or social set; it is simply a trust in the man pledged to a definate standard as against the man who has not that binding moral pledge as a bond of brotherhood."

-Jack Mason, 1913

What is Fraternity?

Fraternity is brotherhood. All members from around the country, undergrad and alumni, share a common bond. Lambda Chi Alpha creates people who lead by example.

What is an Associate Member?

At Lambda Chi Alpha you don't pledge with us, YOU JOIN US!

An associate member is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha who has not yet been initiated. Lambda Chi Alpha does not use the term "pledge" to refer to a new member. The term "pledge" is associated with negative connotations. An Associate Member of Lambda Chi Alpha will never be expected to do anything a brother would not do. Associate Members will never be expected to participate in any activities that may be considered as hazing. Associate Members will be exposed to the values of Lambda Chi Alpha. Associate Members can run for and hold office in the chapter. An Associate Member can even be president.

Philanthropy

null

The brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha are highly involved in philanthropies and community services including the North American Food Drive, Christmas for Kids, and ΛXA Luau.

Through the North American Food Drive (also known as Brothers Feeding Others), Lambda Chi Alpha contributes hundreds of thousands of pounds of food for the hungry each year by filling neighborhood collection bags and trick-or-treating for donations on Halloween. Christmas for Kids welcomes local underprivileged children to the house for gifts, snacks, games and stories. Lambda Chi celebrates the close of each academic year with Luau. Last year, the 19th annual weeklong Luau raised thousands of dollars for Invisible Children through various fund raising activities.

Academics

null

We recognize that every member of Lambda Chi Alpha is at TU to get an education, so grades are a top priority. The house earned the third highest GPA on the row last spring, placing only .1 short of first. The house average for the Spring term was 3.07.

The men of Lambda Chi are pursuing a broad spectrum of majors including Computer Science, Engineering, English, Finance, Management, Marketing, MIS, Political Science and more. We are proud to have in our brotherhood four Presidential Scholars, several members of the Order of Omega, and members in a number of Honor Societies on campus.

Campus Involvement

null

Lambda Chi's contributions to TU do not stop with academics. Every member of the house is involved in at least one other campus organization. In fact, our brothers have demonstrated campus leadership by holding prominent positions in Interfraternity Council such as Rush Chairman and President and by serving as University Ambassadors and Orientation Leaders. Members also participate in various other campus organizations including Beta Alpha Psi (an accounting, finance and MIS fraternity), Order of Omega, and TU Band.

Sports

null

Lambda Chi has many members involved in Tulsa Sports including members on the football team and track team. Also, we have several members invovled in TU Cheerleading as well as the local Tulsa Rugby team. Lambda Chi is always competitive in intramural competition on campus. While members of the house are not required to participate, every brother has ample opportunity to do so.

Last year, Lambda Chi competed for championships in football, soccer, basketball and softball.

Social Activities

null

All work and no fun? We don't think so. Annual Lambda Chi social activities include Victory Party, Watermelon Fest, Sewer Party, Crescent Girl Formal, Sorority mixers, and, of course, Luau.

We kick off each new school year with Victory Party, in cooperation with the four other fraternities on the row. Held in the fall, Watermelon Fest features an all-day competition among the six sororities with a party that night. The Sewer Party event is fully organized by the Associate Members. And the Crescent Girl Formal, which also takes place every fall, gives the chapter a chance to get away from campus for a night or weekend (the most recent Formal took place in St. Louise).

The highlight of the spring semester is ΛXA Luau, which features a sand volleyball tournament in which all members of the TU student body are encouraged to participate. The street in front of fraternity row is closed and filled with 200 tons of sand, creating four full-sized volleyball courts and fun in the sun for everyone.

In addition to the activities listed above, Lambda Chi participates in functions with all campus sororities, and hosts many casual parties throughout the year.
